…As the board charts a progressive pathway for the foundation
Lagos, Nigeria; Friday, April 28, 2017 – Group Managing Director, Folawiyo Group, Tunde Folawiyo; Former Minister of Information Technology, Omobolanle Johnson; among others have been inaugurated as Board members of Nigeria’s novel grant making foundation, Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation.
The inauguration of the five man board consisting of high profile individuals who are leaders and pioneers in their various fields of specialization, took place on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the company’s head office in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Other individuals who were inaugurated into the ACT Foundation Board include Executive Director, Personal Banking Division, Access Bank, Victor Etuokwu; Founder and Managing Director, JNC International, Clare Omatseye and ACT Foundation CEO, Osayi Alile.
The constitution of the five man governing board has established a corporate governance policy for ACT Foundation which will also lead the overall strategy and direction of the organization. The board will ensure that the foundation brings about positive social impact in Nigeria through its four key areas; health, empowerment, environment and leadership.
Heading the board of directors is the Chairman, Tunde Folawiyo. Folawiyo boasts of a successful track record in the Nigerian business space. Currently a Director at MTN Nigeria Limited, he led the successful merger of Marina International Bank with Access Bank in 2005 and served on the board of Access bank until February 2016. He was awarded an Honorary Consul of Barbados and the African Business Leadership award in 2010. He is a member of the Bar Association of England and Wales and the Nigerian Bar Association.
Omobolanle Johnson a former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the Honorary Chairperson of the global Alliance for Affordable Internet. She was once the Country Managing Director for Accenture Nigeria and founding Chairperson and member Board of Trustees, Women in Management and Business. Dr. Omobolanle Johnson brings to bear her influential career that has attracted over US$6bn from foreign direct investment to the Nigerian economy and revolutionized the ICT sector in Nigeria.
Also sitting on the board is Victor Etuokwu who has a banking experience spanning over two decades cutting across operations, information technology, and business development. He is a Senior Honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a Director of E-Tranzact Plc and Unified Payments Systems Plc. Mr. Etuokwu has been an Executive Director at Access Bank since 2012 and he oversees the personal banking division of the bank.
Clare Omatseye has great passion for the Nigerian health sector and this propelled her to start JCN International, a medical equipment solutions partner. A seasoned pharmacist, Mrs Omatseye is a health consultant to several organisations both locally and internationally.
ACT Foundation CEO, Osayi Alile who also doubles as a board member is an experienced strategist and non-profit specialist with over 18 years in philanthropic management. She served as a consultant to Access bank on Corporate Social Responsibility and is a former chairperson of Women in Management, Business and Public Sector. A 2007 World Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Osayi serves on the board of various leading organisations all over the world.
