The Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation Breakfast Dialogue is a convergence of various Public, Private, and Social Sector leaders to have insightful conversations on global social issues with the aim of exploring solutions that will propel social transformation, and create impact in communities.
Since inception, ACT Breakfast Dialogue has provided a multi-stakeholder platform to build relationships and leverage on core knowledge, skills and assets to scale development efforts across the African continent.
At this year’s Breakfast Dialogue, we seek to mobilize technology to address the rising negative impacts and setbacks of the pandemic on vulnerable populations and Africa’s overall growth and development.
The 2020 edition of the Breakfast Dialogue is themed “Tech for Good: Fostering Social Innovation and Digital Investments for Transformative Change’’. The dialogue seeks to encourage cross-fertilization of ideas across different sectors and spark collective action required to bridge Africa’s digital divide, deliver urgent impact, foster innovation and frame long-term strategies towards more resilient and prosperous communities across Africa.
Breakfast Dialogue has been running since 2017 and keeps getting better each year. This conference emerges out of the growing emphasis for all sector players to pay more attention to performance driven sustainability initiatives in the work they do.
The event is designed to:
• Increase knowledge of the development sector and provoke action to aid national and international development.
• Support development leaders with the skills required to build sustainable institutions that will lead to the social development of the continent.
• Provide practical solutions to shared challenges within the social sector.
• Create a platform for improved synergy amongst stakeholders in social, public and private sectors to engage for sustainable development in Africa.
• The event will provide relevant insight to organizations and key stakeholders on how to engage for global impact within the work being created by tracking relevant social, environmental, and economic outcomes.

The pandemic has caused major disruptions around the world and the social impact sector is no exception to the disruption. Organizations are grappling with unprecedented challenges as work practices have changed dramatically. Leveraging technology to digitize and automate key business processes and facilitate remote modes of program delivery will not only ensure service continuity but drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
The simultaneous growth of the Internet, mobile telephone, and digital technologies has revolutionized the role of knowledge in modern societies. As countries around the world are increasingly moving towards knowledge for competiveness and productivity, it is critical for Africa, as part of the global economy, not to be left behind.
Today’s global crisis has exposed the operational vulnerabilities of social change organizations. As the impacts of covid-19 evolves, needs across communities continue to multiply and extend beyond healthcare to social and economic challenges. Strategic investments in technology will not only enable impact but will lay the foundation for longer term recovery and greater possibility of achieving the Sustainable Development goals.
