ACT FOUNDATION, GENERATION ENTERPRISE EMPOWER YABA YOUTHS… Trains youths on entrepreneurship and employability skills

Committed to improve the quality of lives amongst Nigerian youths through vocational education and skills acquisition, Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation and Generation Enterprise have concluded the entrepreneurship and employability training of youths in the Yaba area of Lagos state through the Zest Academy.

The Zest Academy is the training institute of Generation Enterprise, a social enterprise tasked with the aim of making youths entrepreneurial and more employable thus increasing their chances of joining the workforce and become contributory members of the society..

The Zest training Academy run by a 2017 ACT Foundation grantee, Generation Enterprise focuses on vocational and soft skills acquisition as well as providing an environment for trainees to learn through the provision of internship placement opportunities. The extensive four weeks training touches on modules such as financial literacy, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and customer service skills as well as communication skills.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony for the second batch of its students, the Programs Manager, Generation Enterprise, Wunmi Akinde, expressed her joy in her organisation’s ability to aid youth employment Ms. Akinde said “Our partnership with ACT Foundation has been instrumental in producing youths our country can boast of. Through the Zest Academy we have trained youths in the areas of vocational skills as well as employability skills to empower them to be assets to themselves and the nation”.

Also speaking about the initiative, the Head of Programs, ACT Foundation, Ndifreke Okwuegbunam highlighted on ACT Foundation’s desire to promote entrepreneurship in Nigeria. Mrs. Okwuegbunam said “We are proud of the new breed of Nigerians we are culturing and we are certain that with more youths well skilled and trained we will inspire a new Nigeria. We are certain that with entrepreneurship we will be able to curtail unemployment and poverty amongst youths.

Generation enterprise is one of the 22 Non-profits who benefitted from the ACT Foundation 2017 grant based on its entrepreneurial appeal. The foundation is also focused on health, environment and leadership. ACT Foundation is positive that through its various activities employed by its grantee organisations that it can create positive social impact not only in Nigeria but the world at large.
