2022 made it 5 years since we rolled up our sleeves to start this important work- transforming African communities, one intervention at a time. ACT Foundation has since funded 75 organizations and reached over 2 million people from over 800 communities in Africa. Leading such important work has not been without challenges and lessons on the field.
Our commitment to developing a viable nonprofit sector led to the conception of a four-part book series to serve as guidebooks. Intrinsically linked, these four-part book series have been designed to cover general knowledge of the fundamental growth stages of a non-profit business that are vital to succeed. They are titled:
Acknowledging the multifaceted challenges in the world today, this book acknowledges the invaluable roles of nonprofit organisations and social enterprises in creating solutions. However, it balances the idealistic perception of impact creation with practical insights on building a sustainable non-profit from ideation to execution.
The operations of a non-profit should be centered on commitment, efficiency and integrity. This book discusses the processes involved in creating, implementing and managing operational activities to improve the efficient delivery of a non-profit’s programmes, thereby increasing its value to stakeholders.
Sustainability is of great importance for all organizations, for-profit and non-profit alike. It determines how long the organisation will exist but more so how it will continue to effectively deliver impact. This book explores concepts and strategies nonprofit can leverage to achieve sustainability.
The goal of every development programme or project is to change the current situation of its target beneficiaries through the achievement of specific results. The key question of whether results were achieved from the implementation of interventions or initiatives can be answered through the institutionalisation of a strong monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system within a programme or project’s life cycle. The aim of this book is to introduce its users to the concepts of monitoring and evaluation and their application in programme/project management
